47 year old mother of two. Born and bred on the south coast, moved away, lived life, came back and settled by the sea to raise my family. Seven years ago I discovered mindfulness and decided it was something that I was keen to investigate further. After successfully completing two 8 week courses in mindfulness, Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction and Mindful Based Self-Compassion, and attending several silent retreats to deepen my practice, I realised with an unwavering clarity that children could really benefit from this wonderful gift. Seems like others did so before me and so I discovered Mindfulness In Schools Project where I trained to teach the classroom based .b course for 11-18 year olds.
I was recently diagnosed with ADHD having slipped through the net as a child. Mindfulness was the one thing that I was able to access when my mind was in overdrive and I can quite categorically claim that the training and regular practice saved my life. Unbeknown to me, the regular checking in with myself was essential to keep my mind in the present moment and the .b in particular has taught me very simple tools that I still use today. I cannot recommend it highly enough!
